We're always on the lookout for awesome resources - and we bet you are, too! So, here are five that we are loving right now!
A Book We're Reading: The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
This is a classic. And it’s a classic for a reason. Read this book through the lens of children’s ministry and I GUARNTEEE you’ll garner enormous insights. Here are our top two takeaways.
Begin with the End in Mind.
What is your purpose in pursuing children’s ministry? Why do you do it? Whatever decisions you make this year, make sure they serve the purpose of your ministry. If it doesn’t contribute to your mission, cut it. Know what you’re about and relentlessly do that.
Think Win-Win.
It’s a myth that children’s ministry is all about children. Nonsense. It’s about families. Parents get exponentially more time with their children than we do. So, as you prepare for Sunday, also prepare for Monday. How can you win with you children while they’re under your care and leadership and win with you families by equipping them to point their kids to Jesus throughout the week? Win. Win.
A Podcast We're Devouring: 1 Year Daily Audio Bible
One of the top New Year’s Resolutions (among Christians) is to read the Bible in a year. But – get this – the Bible was mostly intended to be heard not read. Don’t get me wrong – reading the Bible is super important. But until the invention of printing press, the Bible was almost exclusively heard.
The 1 Year Daily Audio Bible podcast provides you with an audio portion of the Bible every single day. We’re only a couple of weeks into the year, so double up for a couple of weeks and by the end of the year you will have listened to the entire Bible!
A Tool We're Loving: PDF Split and Merge by Ice Cream Apps
This application is amazing. It allows you to split and merge PDFs. PDFs are great. They really are. They look so much more professional than a Word document. But they can also be MADDENING. We want to send out that one page, but it’s tied up with nine other pages that don’t matter.
OR we want to send a whole bunch of PDFs to our families, but feel weird about sending seven attachments. Enter PDF Split and Merge by Ice Cream. I don’t know why it’s called that, but we love it. Split and Merge at your leisure.
A Song We Have on Repeat: There Was Jesus
If you haven’t heard this Zach Williams song with Dolly Parton, you are MISSING OUT. (Listen Hear) The lyrics are amazing. The vocals are amazing. This is basically a perfect song.
A Quote We're Pondering: Jim Elliot
"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose."
There you go! Five things we are loving this month.
