I came across a new AI tool I want to tell you about, but first…
I know, I know…different people have different feelings about AI. Is it a technological breakthrough that will change the world for good, or is it the first chapter in a dystopian future where robots rule as our overlords?
I don’t have the answer to that.
What I can say is this—so far it hasn’t launched any missiles, but it has given us some really cool tools that can be used in some really cool ways for ministry.
Here’s one I think you might love!
If you’ve ever found yourself trying to find a catchy song for your kids that teaches a Bible lesson or verse, you know it can be a challenge. Enter Suno AI, the song generator that can compose a tune tailored to your needs—no musical degree required!
How It Works
In 200 words or less, give Suno a song description. Here are some details you might include:
Theme or Message: This could be a Bible verse or story. Maybe it’s the Big Idea of a lesson you’re teaching. Or it could be your VBS theme.
Tone and Genre: Should it be upbeat and energetic, joyful and worshipful, or gentle and reflective? Are you looking for something pop, rock, country, gospel, or hip hop?
Lyric Style: Do you want verses, chorus and bridge, or just verses and chorus? How many verses do you want?
Target Age Group: Who is this for? Toddlers, preschool, elementary, or teens?
Extras: Should the song have a sound effect or fun moment? Are there any specific phrases or words you want to include?
I wanted to create a new Easter song for kids, so here’s an example of what I told Suno:

When I hit the “Create” button, it composed 2 versions of a song with the same lyrics within seconds.
And here’s what’s crazy…they were surprisingly good! Not professional songwriter good, but I was able to create it really fast and really free. I’ve included the song below so you can hear it for yourself, but before you listen, I should tell you about a few shortcomings.
The Cons
It can be a little clunky: You’ll notice in the song I created that song begins to wind down in the end, but then fires back up before cutting off entirely. (I left it in so you can hear it.) It’s not unfixable, though. I could simply download the song, put it into a audio editor like Audacity, and clean the ending up. Easy-peasy!
It has limited control: The lyrics Suno gave me were pretty good, but there were a few really cheesy lines. You'll also want to make sure the theology is on point! You can edit the lyrics in the control panel, but then I couldn’t figure out a way to recreate the song with the new lyrics. But I did find a work-around. I adjusted the lyrics to my liking, then copied and pasted them into a new “Custom” song.

In custom mode, you can give Suno the exact lyrics you want. This time, when I dropped the adjusted lyrics in and hit the “Create” button, it gave me 2 more new versions. The tunes were a little different this time around, but still really good.
This whole process took me about 20 minutes.
I know—CRAZY FAST!
So with no further ado, I present to you my musical debut—a song called “New Life Rises.”

To the Grammy Awards Committee—you’ve got my number. I’m looking forward to your call! 😂
BTW...this is NOT a sponsored post. I don't do those! So let me know if you give Suno a try — I'd love to hear how it works for your ministry!
