Bible memorization is one of the harder spiritual disciplines – but it is so important!
Here are five verses we hope you’ll encourage your kiddos to memorize.
God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. (John 3:16, NIrV)
God, create a pure heart in me. Give me a new spirit that is faithful to you. (Psalm 51:10, NIrV)
Do everything without complaining or arguing. (Philippians 2:14, NIrV)
Work at everything you do with all your heart. Work as if you were working for the Lord, not for human masters. (Colossians 3:23, NIrV)
But the fruit the Holy Spirit produces is love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful and gentle and having control of oneself. There is no law against things of that kind. (Galatians 5:22-23, NIrV)
These handful of verses are some of the most encouraging – and most challenging – in all of Scripture.
I wish I’d learned these as a child. I wish I’d had these rooted in my heart. I wish these had been with me as I grew up as a follower of Jesus. I hope you will encourage the children in your care to memorize these verses. It will serve them for a lifetime – even if they don’t realize it now.
